Which facial cleanse is right for you? Hydrapeel, ultrasonic, manual or peel

There are many kinds of cleansing facials and they suit different skin. We compare them clearly: what each does, who it suits, how it feels and what it costs.

Which facial cleanse is right for you? Hydrapeel, ultrasonic, manual or peel
01

Clean skin doesn't mean tight skin

Many people try to fix congested skin at home with strong cleansers, gritty scrubs or a cleansing brush. The result is often tight, red skin – and the skin responds by producing even more oil. A professional cleanse does the opposite: it removes congestion and dead cells so the skin feels good and stays balanced.

Skinique offers several cleansing treatments. They differ in strength, sensation and how red the skin is afterwards. Here is how they compare.

02

Hydrapeel – cleansing and hydration in one

In the Hydrapeel, water and suction lift dead cells and oil from the pores, and the clean skin gets hydrating serums straight away. Nothing is squeezed, so there is little redness.

What can happen inside a pore?

Skin can have all of these at the same time.

What an ultrasonic cleansing does to pores

Three skin states: ultrasound, pore cleansing and skin after the visit

Ultrasonic device on the skin

Ultrasound creates vibration that helps lift impurities from pores. The specialist chooses and guides the device.

03

Ultrasonic cleansing – the gentlest option

In ultrasonic cleansing a vibrating spatula lifts dead cells and oil from the surface and the pore openings. It is very gentle and suits sensitive, red-prone skin too.

04

Manual deep cleanse – when there's a lot of congestion

In a manual deep cleanse the skin is steamed and blackheads and congestion are removed by hand. It is the most effective way to clear deep congestion, but the skin can be red for a few hours.

For cleansing plus massage and serums, choose the complete facial.

Hydration starts with the skin barrier.

When the barrier feels stressed

Irritation and tightness are signs that your routine needs a review. When the barrier is weak, moisture escapes from the skin more easily.

05

Chemical peel – when the surface needs renewal

Acids lift dead cells and clear the pores from within. Peels smooth the surface and post-acne marks, but require careful sun protection.

Peels are best from autumn to spring.

06

What if you have acne?

Inflamed spots shouldn't be squeezed – it can spread inflammation and leave marks. For acne-prone skin, GIGI Clear Skin Control is better: ultrasonic cleansing combined with calming products. LED blue light also targets the bacteria behind breakouts.

For young skin there is a dedicated young skin facial. Read also breakouts in adulthood.

Quick guide

If you can't decide, book the special facial, where your cosmetologist plans the cleanse around your skin. All treatments and prices are in the price list.

08

How often should you have a professional cleanse?

The skin's surface renews about every four weeks. Oily skin benefits from a cleanse every 4–6 weeks, dry and sensitive skin less often. Cleansing too often irritates the skin.

At home, a mild cleanser morning and evening, a light moisturiser and sunscreen are enough. When home care is right, congestion doesn't return as fast and professional cleanses stay more effective.
