How did you become a cosmetologist?

I have loved cosmetics since childhood and always looked after my own skin. I was curious about how to improve its condition whenever it needed it. That is how it became my field.

Where did you study, and how do you keep learning?

I completed a three-year professional cosmetology programme. Since then I have taken many separate courses and seminars.

A cosmetologist never stops learning. The field moves fast, and I need to know the current technologies and products that really deliver results.

How long have you worked as a cosmetologist?

I have worked as a cosmetologist in Finland for more than five years.

Why did you open Skinique?

I wanted to create a place where clients feel a personal approach, professional care and trust.

What happens at the first visit?

We start with a conversation: what concerns you, which products you use now and what you expect. I also ask about your health and allergies. Then I look at your skin, and only after that do I suggest a treatment.

Why do you use professional products?

I work with LYCON, GIGI and Dermalux products and devices. They are proven brands trusted in modern cosmetology around the world.

Which devices do you use, and why?

The studio offers Dermalux LED, RF skin tightening, microneedling and Hydrapeel. I use them to rejuvenate the skin and improve its structure.

Waxing and laser hair removal are two completely different treatments. The differences are explained in the article waxing or laser.

Do you ever decline a treatment?

Yes. I may decline a treatment if I feel it does not suit the client or their health does not allow it. Then I suggest another treatment and explain why.

What do you promise, and what not?

I work for results. I always tell you honestly what effect to expect and whether you need the full course or one or two treatments.

What do you advise between visits?

I always say that if you want results, half of them depend on home care. That is why I choose home care for each client personally.

Which skincare mistakes do you see most often?

I most often see three mistakes:

• products are chosen on a friend's advice or from an advert, without knowing your skin type and its concerns
• many different products are bought that do not suit the skin, or are not used correctly
• people come to a professional too late

How do you treat sensitive skin?

I always start with a skin analysis. With sensitive skin it is important to understand the cause of the sensitivity.

Sensitive skin is not one skin type: it can be dry, oily or dehydrated, and it may show dilated capillaries or rosacea. That is why the same programme cannot suit everyone.

What is the atmosphere in the studio?

Calm and comfortable. I want every client to feel: this is their place and their time.
