10 questions worth asking your cosmetologist
A good cosmetologist visit is a conversation, not just a treatment. These questions help you get more out of your visit and choose treatments that really suit your skin.

Why asking pays off
A cosmetologist sees your skin up close and in good light – often more precisely than anyone else. That makes a visit a good chance to get answers that are hard to find online. The more you tell and ask, the better the treatment and home routine fit.
We've gathered the questions clients have found most useful. Bring the list, or send your questions ahead by WhatsApp.
About your skin
- What is my skin type, really? Many think their skin is oily when it's actually dehydrated and producing oil because of it. Read dryness or dehydration.
- What's the most important thing to treat right now? With several goals, the order matters. Usually calm and cleanse first, then intensify.
- Is there anything on my skin I should show a doctor? A cosmetologist doesn't diagnose, but can tell you when a change or symptom is worth checking with a doctor.
About treatments
- Why do you recommend this treatment? A good cosmetologist can explain the choice – and will also tell you when a lighter treatment is enough.
- How many treatments, and how far apart? Some work in one visit, others only as a series. Microneedling and RF, for example, rely on the skin's own renewal, which takes weeks.
- What can I realistically expect? Ask how your skin will look straight away, after a week and after a series.
- How does it feel, and is there downtime? Then you can time it right around daily life or before an event.
About home care
- Which of my products suit me and which should I drop? Bring them or take photos. A simpler routine often works better than ten jars.
- How should I care for my skin in the days after? Sauna, make-up, actives and sunscreen – advice varies by treatment.
About safety
- Is this treatment suitable with my medication, pregnancy or health condition? Always mention medication, allergies, pregnancy, implants or recent treatments. They can affect which treatment is safe.
Every treatment page at Skinique lists when to postpone. If you're unsure, ask before booking.
