The skin around the eyes is the thinnest on the face, and tiredness shows there first. What causes puffiness and dark circles, and what can help.
Skinique editorial

The skin around the eyes is the thinnest on the face. It has little fat beneath it and many small blood vessels, so late nights, stress and dryness show there quickly. The skin also moves all the time as you blink and smile.
The good news is that much of a tired look comes from puffiness and dryness. Both can be helped at home and at the clinic.
Puffiness forms when fluid collects under the eyes. Poor sleep, salty food, alcohol and allergies make it worse. It is usually strongest in the morning and eases during the day.
Dark circles have several causes. Blood vessels show through the thin skin, and tiredness makes them more visible. For some people the darkness is inherited pigment that treatment cannot remove. In that case a treatment can freshen the look, but it will not remove the circles completely.
Under the eye the skin is thinner than anywhere else on the face, with little fat and many small blood vessels beneath it.

A light cream absorbs quickly into thin skin when you pat it in gently with a fingertip.
Small everyday habits show clearly around the eyes:
If your eyes often itch or turn red, an allergy may be behind it. In that case it is worth seeing a doctor.
In Skinique's eye area treatment the skin is cleansed gently and a hydrating, soothing serum is applied. Light lymphatic massage moves fluid away from the puffy area. Finally a cooling mask is placed over the eyes, followed by eye cream.
The treatment takes about 60 minutes and costs €80. There is no downtime, so you can carry on with your day. In the same visit you can also have your lashes tinted or brows shaped.

The thinnest skin on the face. It dries out easily, and dryness makes fine lines more visible. Hydrating care and eye cream help this layer.
This is where collagen and elastin keep the skin elastic. They decrease with age and sun exposure, which is why sunscreen matters around the eyes too.
There is little fat here, so blood vessels show easily and fluid collects as puffiness. Lymphatic massage and a cool mask reduce puffiness.
This muscle closes the eye and moves with every blink and smile. That is why lines appear here first.

Your eyes look fresher straight after the treatment, and puffiness goes down. The fresh look lasts from a few days to a few weeks. To keep it, the treatment can be repeated every 2–4 weeks or as needed.
The treatment does not remove inherited darkness or deep lines. It hydrates and calms the skin and reduces puffiness. If you would like firmer skin across the whole face, ask your cosmetologist about other facials.
The treatment is not done if the eye is inflamed or you have a stye. If you have had eye surgery in the last 3 months, wait before booking.
Please remove contact lenses before the treatment and bring the case with you. Also tell us about eye conditions and allergies, so the products can be chosen safely.
The eye area treatment suits the days before a celebration, a photo shoot or an important meeting, but also the moments when you simply want an hour of rest. Book directly into the eye area treatment.
